Virtual Event Virtual Event

Virtual tour of the exhibition “Traces of Memory. A contemporary look at the Jewish past of Poland” in the 3D technique.

The “Traces of Memory” exhibition presents the richness and diversity of Jewish life that existed in southern Poland before the Holocaust, both in large cities such as Kraków and Tarnów, but also in towns and villages such as Rymanów or Wielkie Oczy. It offers a completely innovative look at the Jewish past of Poland and has a number of unique features that distinguish it from other exhibitions devoted to Polish Jews or the Holocaust, presented in museums abroad.
The exhibition was created as a result of many years of research combined with detailed photographic documentation, for which professor Jonathan Webber and photographer Chris Schwarz were responsible. In 2016, the exhibition was updated with photographs of the American Holocaust researcher and artist prof. Jason Francisco. The exhibition is divided into five sections, corresponding to various issues and ways of presenting the topic. In this way, the creators tried to avoid simplifications and stereotypical generalizations, instead creating a multi-layer and multi-dimensional structure covering a whole range of perspectives. The five sections are five clear ideas at the same time, five paths we can follow: sadness in the face of ruins, interest in the authentic riches of Jewish culture, horror at the brutality of the process of destruction, recognition of the complex problems of understanding the past, and preserving and erasing the traces of memory.

The ticket entitles you to one-time access to the exhibition for a maximum of 8 hours from the moment of logging in.
